I think that I picked this up from a Fleming Brown album which I borrowed from the public library in the mid 1970s.

I first heard this on an album by the Troublesome Creek String Band and it, as well as Walk Along John to Kansas was on repeat on my mp3 player. I was reminded of it when clawhammer Mike posted on his blog.

OK, I got caught up in this one. A part is OK, B/C are kind of a mish-mash of my thing I do in A-modal tuning.

I'm doing the verses as they are in the 1909 edition of Heart Songs, although I'm collapsing the four into two to make it shorter. The original 1856 lyrics are longer.

This 3-part has the problem in that the C part actually should go lower than the range in double-d tuning, so I do it an octave higher, which makes it too much like the A part. It makes more sense when I'm playing with my mandolin-playing friend Mark.

A while ago this was a TOTW, and I've been meaning to play it. Now I have. It's more like Runing in My Sleep! But I worked it out from the playing of a group with a CD on emusic who do it at that tempo.

This was a tune that is being used in a TV ad for West Bend Insurance, and the Wife and I couldn't recognize it. What is this tune? (solved)
