Just read on BHO (banjohangout.org/archive/238759) that this style pot was pattented by Victor Kraske in 1902. He went to work for Gibson in 1910. According to Joe Spann's book, he worked as a foreman (pg.34) . It's amazing what banjo info one can find on BHO.

Hey Jim, just saw your photo. Does that banjo have a 3 or 5 digit number stamped on it. What is stamped on the headplate of the top of the rim between the heel of the neck and dowel stick. More common interests!!
