Thanks!
I know…me too, and I’m only 43!
Front seal on the transfer case started pouring oil. I replaced the rear seal 20 years ago, which was cake. This front seal was more difficult though. But I got ‘er. Irritating that nobody locally carried what I needed though, so had to special order a new oil seal and also a $3 32 splined rubber washer, which was not easy to find online, but I did finally.
I must have hit my head 5-6 times underneath the truck. And I don’t have an impact wrench…so I was using a pry-bar wedged into the yoke to stop it from spinning so I could bust the lock nut loose…and the pry-bar slipped out and busted me…right in the front tooth, and broke a piece off. I was soooo mad. Got the seals replaced though.
Now on to the fan hub bearing.
It’s always something.

I’ve got 8 gallons of NOS antifreeze, never opened up, but it’s 20 years old.
Does it ever go bad? Is it ok to use still?

Google is your friend." Yes, it has exceeded it's 5-10 yr shelf life"......that's google, not me!!
Looking really good Al! I’m impressed buddy…that thing looked like a wreck big time before!
I just replaced the water pump on my Dodge…pretty darn easy…2 bolts holding it on. But…….that was after I took the radiator off, the shroud, the clutch fan, the fan hub assembly….holy….that fan was a B to get off.
I used considerably more when I was farming than nowadays .... probably used up before it was 3 or 4 years old. Maybe more luck than brains or a bit of ignorance is bliss, but I sure as hello never threw any unused stuff out.
This site https://www.cadencepetroleum.com/blog/does-antifreeze-expire/#:~:text=Under%20ideal%20conditions%2C%20unopened%20antifreeze,from%20three%20to%20five%20years. says "unopened antifreeze can last two to five years."
It also gives a series of things that can be done to determine the viability of antifreeze, ending with: "A set of pH strips can also determine the alkalinity of an antifreeze sample. Viable antifreeze has a pH range of 7.5 to 11." I've never done a pH test on antifreeze, but somehow I'd be surprised if the pH of Dow's stuff isn't up to snuff.
Dow, up here I think vehicles can be registered/licensed as "antique / vintage" when they're 30 years old. A few more years and you can sell your stuff as "period correct" ........... and charge accordingly. ![]()
