Earl for most of us is represented by he and Lester forming the Foggy Mountain Boys. But if you really want to see where his heart was, do a little searching and reading about the Earl Scruggs Revue and the anti war movement in the mid sixties. Earl was more than Bluegrass. 

I found bluegrass and banjo looking for somewhere to jam with other musicians. Up until then I identified with guitar and folk music. There just wasn't a folk music jam and there was a bluegrass jam. That is what drew me to it. Since then, I have attended bluegrass festivals, bluegrass jams, and played in a mediocre bluegrass band. In my experience, a large portion of bluegrass fans are bluegrass players. The big draw at most bluegrass festivals that I go to is jamming in the campground, the lobby, or the hallways. A lot of them have bluegrass workshops. Listening to some big-time bluegrass band on stage is just what you do to compare yourself with.

I guess what I'm saying is that AI may create music and call it bluegrass, but bluegrass is social and you can't get social with AI.

I knew all of this Earl still never missed saying a quick thank you--He protested with his draft age sons----but still with good manners--He said he wanted to sing with Joan Baez because she sang so pretty and really paid little attention to he views

I know what every one said already --at least I think I do--but it kinda looked like it was a "well not really" but I ain't mad or not speaking or even ''for sure'' correct --and we all got to watch out for the man--

I think AI will further strengthen the power and popularity of live music events and their subsequent recordings.
People appreciate the real stuff.

I was impressed with Earl's choice and courage to grow his hair long and wear a big "peace sign" necklace.
He was doing that because of his beliefs...he was doing that for boys across the land...especially for those boys that didn't come home.

Important for me to connect with people in music. I don't think anyone wants to live with out them.  Don't think life is any good without them. Music is a form of people to people connecting. That music stays with you and in you.  AI just ain't people. It will bring some stuff and will contribute some stuf, but it's not going to be something I will pay attention to or go out of my way to hear. Nothing AI can replicate experiences and part of life like knowing and dealing with Arthur Hatfield and look at one of his banjos every day.  Been listening to Longview this week. Yes sir!

AI is nothing but an ability to search files ,invented ,programmed by humans --it is not any more of a true thinker than the first time a computer answered a person on the telephone--I avoid it and still google search for info--i feel no need for it --and I have little doubt that it does keep files on it's users --

Earl was against the Vietnam war.
Louise booked the Revue in many colleges back then and Earl was influenced by their demonstrations.

No doubt about it. Us on this forum. It can and will use our words. Maybe not against us. But remember it's slightly worse than Big Brother. 

I can't see AI from my porch or when I play music or Scrabble at my dear friends' homes.
I don't really spend any time thinking about AI except when I'm here.

everything useful on a computer is intelligence being transferred --

the artificial part is when it is programmed to search files and give a group of results --very fast --in comparison to a google search --it might even talk to you like a pull string barbie---or your car telling you --''the door is a jar''

of course this is the coming way--data centers and their ability to pile up results are hot topics--China and USA are trying to have the fastest processing-- the world monetary system--global trading --many global things--want transfer of files -ASAP-
super computers run hot and need big time cooling , there are interesting {to me)vids about them --on you tube

I volunteer at a 40-year old acoustic music venue. We have no PA. We book everything from bluegrass to blues, jazz to Django, even songwriters, new age, old age. No devices are allowed, just wooden handmade music, except the Yamaha keyboard and a coffee machine and refrigerator.
We don’t track what the machines do while we are gone, but at least the water is filtered.

AND WE MASK UP, due to the new Covid having 75 new mutations not covered by vax and boost, bird flue, Ebola, Hantavirus and whatever else could keep us from singing around the place. All the new youths are playing ukes and snappin’ their fangers.

That way if we have a blackout, we play anyway, no pretend intelligence let in.

Bluegrass wouldn’t let Billy in, so later he got in the best album of the year.
We might as well breath fresh air while we can
