I am already bored with the banter and coverage of International Football. And, I wonder how many post game fights and other nonsense cr@p we are going to have to deal with here in the USA. But, mostly I am curious if you agree with this sentiment or are a fanatic and plan to follow all the games? It does seem that this game is becoming more and more popular in N. America.

I don't know why FIFA have given the World Cup to the USA for a second time. In 1994 the idea was that it would convert Americans to proper football. Didn't happen then. Won't happen now. And the news is that the overpriced tickets aren't selling and the hotels aren't filling. At least we now have the 'FIFA Peace Prize', which is something we've been waiting for for years.

The up side to this is the rest of the world is finding out how great Ranch Dressing taste on hot wings. And how big a petro(being p.c. Correct for the soccer oops FOOTBALL crowd) station can be I.e. Buck-ee's.

I think I'm noticing that the importance (?) of all sports has diminished as I age, or learn more, or get more jaded, or ??? I expect I'll "watch*" a few of the games.... leaning toward those Canada's involved in.
* like I do for hockey, CFL, MLB .... a mish-mash of TIMing, switching channels to avoid really bad ads, sometimes doing the supper dishes, snoozing checking to see that everything out back is locked up for the night, getting/serving our evening tea/coffee/cookie, etc., etc. [Livin' the dream I tells ya!!
]
Fwiw, I recommend ^^ approach [particularly switching channels] to allow you to miss most of the "banter and coverage."

I'm not a fan of the game, but to read some North American banjo players complain about soccer is kind of amusing.
Broadcasts about the Super Bowl start weeks in advance, almost around the clock. The pregame show takes up a couple of days all by itself. Soccer isn't much different, other than it has a much larger and more global audience.
If there's a North American bias against soccer, or just plain disinterest, well, that's a North American problem. If banjo players aren't fans, well, I don't think anyone will care.
And if you think any of the fans came here for Buc-ee's (not Buck-ee's), I'm afraid that you're mistaken.

NFL games have a playing time of 60 minutes during regulation (not counting OT). They actually "play" about 12 minutes, or 1/5 of the total game time. Real time is 3+ hours. And only one half (technically, one third) of the starting players are on the field at any one time. And players are definitely subbed in and out.
Both games have halftimes, but only American football has "TV timeouts" to hawk beer, gambling, cryptocurrencies, shampoo, unhealthy foods, manly trucks, and whatnot. (American) football fans need not apply.
If you dislike both types of football, that's fine. Different strokes and all that. Not everyone enjoys world class football (of either type), cycling, badminton, hockey (of either type), crosscountry skiing, etc.

It would look like a real car....
you know why the soccerheads go out of their minds when someone scores ?
BECAUSE IT NEVER HAPPENS !
and calling soccer the proper game is like calling a wedgy proper therapy.
closes thing to a proper game related to FOOT ball is rugby,,, now i respect those guys they really get after it with no pads .
and with hockey there is action and hitting,, in soccer if someone taps into another its like they have been shot with a 44. rolling around screaming in pain... in rugby and hockey a guy gets his teeth knocked out or some fingers broke they just patch them up and send him back in.
it will be maybe 20-25 more years before soccer really takes hold here.. by then the demographics will have changed enough for support.

I believe this model's 305 struggled to get 150 hp.
The 454 of the day got a tick over 200hp.
All looks and no "muscle" isn't my definition of "manly".
So then time’s up, end of game, one thinks,,, but wait, they add on delay times from during the match,,, so then, ok, it goes past 90 minutes,, but wait!, it goes past the added delay times , so no one knows what the centre/center referee is adding on for possible more delay times from during the added time,, sheesh!,,, , and the game dwindles down to….. yes! , the centre referee finally raises his arms,, oh,,! .. yep, the game is over.
