I call if a tune is a 2 chord tune if Owen is there or not. But I also use Nashville numbers even if someone isn't hep to it. (as in, get hep to it!)
Oh, I'd never yell. But I did meet a someone that did.

I spent the afternoon listening and playing along to Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, Don Gibson, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Lefty Frizzell, & Faron Young. I got some flatwound strings for my bass. I think it sounds like that nineteen fifty's sound. Well, it ain't a doghouse but . . . .it fits in the truck.

Contrast this with classical musicians -- play too many notes that deviate from the printed score, and you're going to get dirty looks. Or maybe even be fired from the orchestra...

i have always had to get it as close as i could because of the way i play... everything i see another do is upside down and backwards for me... for the first year i learned from records until i got out a watched others.... so i get as close as i can. most of the time i do pretty well... and so i try to play it that way depending on the crowd and song. some crowds you can let it go and tear off some wild stuff and they love it. and then others don't.

There's only a million tunes that have never been put on recordings in such a way they can be compared. To be as respectful as I can, getting fired from an orchestra is not something I've ever been afraid of.

Yep, my own arrangements. That's from 55+  years of messing around with guitars and banjos,, thanks Steve.
To be clear, though, a lot of those arrangements are beginner's or intermediate level. I figured there weren't enough easier banjo tabs,, everybody seems to start on Earl's "Cripple Creek", a tune he put on an album  about 30 years after he started playing the dang thang.
