I checked out some books of clawhammer tablature from the city library. I have been really enjoying one by Dan Levinson called Old time festival tunes. Prior to now, I have always had no success with tablature. I would just get all stuck and not be able to do anything trying to connect what my eyes were reading with what I want my fingers to do. I'm having a much easier time of it now. As a result I am learning some new songs, new techniques and a way of being very particular about what note I am playing. It seems these subtleties expressed in the tablature make the difference between just playing a chord pattern that is common to many songs or playing a particular song. The songs are beautiful too.
