Although it seems unlikely, banjo player Sim Daley fell in love with bluegrass music while growing up in a small Cornish fishing village in the southwest of England. In June of 1994, Sim won first place at the renowned Edale Bluegrass Festival Banjo Contest, the largest in the UK at the time, and was touring extensively with the band Wild Turkey. He soon departed for greener bluegrass pastures and now makes his home in Nashville, TN. Sim has since shared the stage with such contemporary bluegrass stars as Melonie Cannon, Adam Steffey, Ronnie Bowman, Stephen Mougin, Kim Gardner, Deanie Richardson, Brandon Rickman, Mike Anglin, Jennee Fleenor, Steve Thomas, and Booie Beech to name just a few. Sim is also the sole proprietor of Daley's Instrument Co., which caters to the needs of professional road musicians, studio players, and hobbyists alike. He is also the builder of Daley mandolins and guitars. These stellar instruments are played by Dan Tyminski (Alison Krauss and Union Station), Adam Steffey (The Boxcars), Stephen Mougin (Sam Bush Band), and most recently, Tina Adair to name just a few.
