Jonty , Stud is right for a change!!! Don’t get better than that!!!
I was happy to see your son has good taste and puts Heinz ketchup on his breakfast butty , not to mention the Lamb looks amazing and cooked perfect along with perfect looking Yorkshire puddings and the rest of the fixins!!!
If you ever want to get rid of him, I think we could make a good Yooper out of him and make him the new Camp Cook…………chef !!!
If his proud smile was any bigger , he’d have earwax on the corners of his mouth !!!

Well, Ol Slammer learned something new today!!! I heard people say “smashed potatoes “ my whole life, but always thought they were referring to mashed potatoes or whipped potatoes.
I did not know there was a difference and until seeing Jonty’s Son in the picture of his feast he prepared , I was wondering what was on the pan in front of the puddings and also didn’t see what I call mashed potatoes.
Why the hell has this eluded me all these years!!! First off, growing up in a Sicilian family, I never had mashed potatoes until I was a freshman in high school.
Now, 43 years later I’m just finding out about “smashed potatoes “. Never had them and nobody has ever served them to me, nor have I seen them on a menu, but guess what’s next on the menu this week !!!
OK, gonna need some “smashed potato recipes. Who knows, they might become my new Favorites !!! Wink LOL

Hey Dale, they were a new one on me.  Dead easy to make, boil your spuds in their skins for 15-20 minutes.  Drain and let them cool a little, then put them on a baking sheet and squash then with a glass/mug/masher/etc - splash of oil and seasonings of choice then into a hot oven for 20-25 mins.

the cheeky little sod was grinning at me when he was using the mug - check your email shortly as I'll mail you why smiley

Sausage grinders with onions, peppers, provolone, and marinara sauce. Last night we did Coyote steaks - thin sliced ribeyes in a chipotle sauce.

Hands down...

THE BEST....

Sauage grinder i have ever had..!

STUD Aprooved..... :0)

Hearing the term "grinder" used in its proper context, i.e., a sandwich, not a hookup app, takes me back. Sadly they are off the menu for me at the moment, possibly forever, but who knows.

Terry has a small rack of baby backs in the oven! We measure meat by the price here! Still gotta have it!

I tried to grow leeks before. I planted them really early & they grew like crazy. I let them grow to about the size I saw in the grocery store. 1" in diameter & about a foot long. WRONG! They were tough as Billy clubs!

I threw them over the bank in the ravine & forgot about them. I was chucking something else over some time later & noticed a patch of something growing down there. I tied a rope on a tree & got Terry to spot me.

I came back up with the best example of leeks I've ever seen before or since!

A salad and some chicken,
thought that'd set me up right.
Then the lettuce and the hen,
got in a doggone fight.
The maters joined in,
the onions did too,
so it thought why not,
make a doggone stew.
Threw in some taters,
then some corn for color,
Threw away the lettuce,
and sat down to supper.

Y'all didn't know I was a poet, did you? :)

Oh No. Don't tell me English muffins are not English? Maybe Al should try English Crumpets for a pizza. ;-) Brad

I think we Yanks are so late in the game, on this planet, we like to show respect to food origins. Or we just like to put everything in their proper drawer:
English muffin
Italian Ice
Bavarian Pretzel
French baguette
Irish coffee
Spanish omelette............

I read in a gardening article here In Victoria BRITISH Columbia that every Brit worth his salt has a patch of leeks somewhere!

Jonty: "Surely you mean scones in bechemel?"

What's this bechemel stuff?!?!?    I realize nobody asked, but scones need ONLY jam, or butter, or butter and jam.   Yer Welcome.   cheeky

'Way back we* babysat our neighbo(u)r's kiddos. Apparently when asked what we'd had for lunch, one of the girls told her mom, "stones."  However, the mom figured something had been lost in translation, and got everything straightened out at the next go-round.

* = Actually it was my wife.... but she never reads my posts, so I can put whatever I want.
