Awesome projects. I'm in the works of refurbishing two Hawkins rifles. I was thinking of making one a flintlock but that's a chore. So two percussions it is.

Pics please...!

Here's a pic of some inlay I put on the stock of my sons muzzle.  At this point all the barrels are stripped of bluing and soaked in rust remover.  We need to refinish my son's stock, re blue everything. Slow but sure.

I got a large container of Brownells Oxpho-blue.   I made a dipping tank to soak the barrels, so my thought was to fill the tank with blueing and dip it at once this way I'll get a more consistent darker blueing.  I hate the Birchwood Casey kits where you only get a small container of blueing solution and have to do it in sections.  I never get it consistent.  I do gunsmithing for fun so I'm not set up for a hot blue tank.   Plus its easier to control, as I'm showing my son how to do this stuff.   Work smarter not harder.

I'm making him do all the stock work, minus the inlay.  We'll work together on the barrels.  I'm having him do all the fit and finish, this way its his gun.  We're also trying something new.  We added some Mag-sparks, vs using #11 caps.  Missed a few deer in the ol-days when it was raining and the cap went "puck" and no boom.  This should alleviate that.

Well no pics...

But..
I found an old lefever nitro special in 16 gauge..double side by side..

The right barrel did not work due to a broken hammer..

Was gonna fix the broken hammer but lucked out n found one for sale fer a few bucks..

Boy...it is very buisy..in one of thos actions...
N..ah boat load of springs in the pissed off position... :0/

Had to think up n make a spring compressor..fer the hammer spring..

To hard to explain..very precarious...to say the least..

But it is up n functionin now.. :0)

A past project..that happens to fit this 219 Savage reciver quite well...

A ...219 Zipper..

The barrel is fit into a 12 gauge shotgun barrel in a manner that allows the 219 barrel to be removed..n..then you have a 12 gauge scope mounted slug gun..

The scope is on a pivot mount ..so it can be pivoted out of the way..to use it as a bird shot barrel..(no choke tho..)

The 219 barrel is fit to the 12 gauge chamber..n bushed at the muzzle also being pinned in place by a screw..remove that screw.. n the rifle barrel comes right out with a good push..
Also i had to come up with n make an extractor/ejector..
For the 219 barrel that did not change the 12 gauge barrel ejector..as so 12 gauge shells will still work fine..

Works quite well..

Well got to shoot today..
The good news..
They all went bang..
Best i could get was 2" at 50 yards..

These were all weighed charges..
But velosity was irrattic..250fps differnce in speed.. 1750 to 2000 fps
That is alot.. (too much)

Old surplus militairy powder..
I'll try a differnt powder..n..a slightly fatter bullet..
These were .323..i'll try.. .325.

It is part of the game..

The copper jacketed did much better with this powder..
As the case was close to full..
