Well..
Once again..if i can post me successes..
I really should post the failures..
Started on a new reciver platform...
Differnt setup...
This is me first attempt..
Made a number of misstakes..
Oh n it failed the test fire test...
It's ok tho...
As it was kinda junk parts..to begin with..
N...now...
I have learned.. some things that will not work on this new platform..
Mostly..sneaky measuring points that are very differnt..fron the other platform i have been doing..
Learned a lot..
N..that..
Is part of the prossess..
To gain success...
Embrace yer failures..
Heh...
What dose not..kill ya..
Makes ya..stronger.. ;0)
Taday..shot n graphed that little .257 cartridge i came up with based on a .300 blackout case...
Quite pleased..
A 100 gr ppu spitzer bullet.. @ 2550-2600 fps...
Accuracy is good..but can be improoved on..
Kinda cold n shivery taday fer shootin..
I gotta check me books but i think i am well inta 25-35 winchester territory fer speed..
At using 1/2 the powder...
Of that cartridge...
I like the effishincey game..
Old school reloading..
Here is a 130 year old bullet mold n reloading tong..
For 25-35 winchester
This is how they did it back then..
I casted some bullets today..came out failrly good..
This tool sizes the bullets n lubes them too..
Building the rifle now...
Kinda fun to do things that were done a hundirt plus years ago..

Yer pretty hard pressed to find..annahthin good fer less than a grand$... when lookin at rifles..
Sticker shock hits as hard as a .300 win mag... :0/
So true Al! Ammo ain't cheap either. My brother sent me an ad for .223 ammo, by the crate at half price and by the time I could respond. My brother was lucky enough to get one crate. I've still got a crate of 5.56, less one box, that I bought when I bought some SKS's ...... real cheap at the time, but now they are getting on up there.

That is one reason i like me..single shot rifles..

Yup ...... a lot more effort goes into shooting up a lot of ammo if you using a single shot. Reloading helps a lot too. My brother does that, but still keeps pretty healthy stash of new ammo.

Ok...here's the plan...
I have 221 fireball dies..
To form cases...
I have both 223..n 222 ....reamers..
First i will try the 223 reamer..
Probly will not work.
As the dimentions a smaller..at the neck n shoulder...
Plan b..
Use the 222 reamer..
That will most likely work..
But the neck will be longer..
That is ok tho..cose factory ammo will most likely work..
But i am guessin that accuacy will be negitivly affected..dew to the shrt to chamber neck of the case..
That is ok tho...as i can cut n form ammo cases longer to fit..
The 222..has a longer case neck..
Again ok fr me purposes..
As it is better..fer cast bullet ammo
.
