Little winchester 410.. Should'ah takin before pics..but did not.. Well got it workin..mostly just gettin all the ..crud..out..
Reciver was ..um..fuzzy with rust.. But cleaned it up..gave it a much better finish..n.blued it.. big pits still there..but it is now much better.. Stock has a crack in it to be glued. Barrel has a bulge in it at the choke..so the muzzel has to be cut about 1 1/2 inch back..n..bead re-mounted.. Scrubbed the bore n..test fired..after gettin the firing pin ..un froze..n ejection working..
Will half'ta make a fore-end for it too..
Nutter fun little project keeps me entertained.. ;0)
Progress... Unfortuneatly the tool bit..slipped in the chuck.. While cutting the barrel channal.. I can fix that up a bit tho.. N..only used a scope mount screw fer a bead.. As i did not want to order n wait fer a shotgun bead thread tap..
Turns out..that this is a rathah rare winchester 410.. I got it a t auction ..in really roughf shape..n missing the forarm..fer $50.00 plus the shipping at auction.. Hardly pristien shape.. But..the ones in good condition..n..all the parts...
I had a single shot.410 when I was a kid. HR, it had a hammer. My first firearm. I loved it. It was eventually stolen. I bought another one several years ago just because I missed it, and had a case of shells. You can’t help but like them.
Here is a handy little deal..a .22lr /410 barrel liner..
Turns out to be spot on at 50 to 60 feet..with the new to me little winchester 410..
It hits about 3" high. At that distance....in me other 410..an old Eastern Arms single..made by stevens An early version of the stevens 410..also knowen as ..Springfield instead'ah Eastern Arms.
This insert will now live with the little winchester.. :0)
Al..what are your thoughts on a 219 Zipper? A friend has a rolling block style made by Elwood Epps back in the ?50s. Great shape, has the dyes to form cartridges.
If it is a newer one.with a small diamiter firing pin n hole..it would be fine..as some antque rollin block fired a 7mm mauser.. A higher pressure round.. But if it is a composit of antque parts..i dunno..
You can buy new 25-35 brass..to form the cases.. Much easyer..than 30-30 brass.
Figgered out a convienyent way to form .22 acp round from 25acp brass. Chamber is mostly cut in the donor barrel..waiting on a .277 reamer to finish it..
The nice part of formin the brass is the method i found..i can adjust the neck lenth to me liking.. :0)
2 differnt cast bullets to try.. If i can ever get this project done n working.. Still waiting on a tool... :0/ I gotta size n gas check n lube these bullets..in the mean time..
