Till the brand new bottoming tap snapped..off in the blind hole.. :0[

Tried evey trick I know to get it out..but it was havin none of it.. :0(

So..I put a stud on the barrel..with what I had on hand..
The wood will cover it..n..It functions very well..

Bugger.... :0/

Well here is a solootion....warts n all....

Rail for scope mount..
I blued the barrel..but halfta add the filler...
I really need to get a tig welding setup..

But fer now mig will halfta do...

A few grinder scars...
I should get a polishing set up..
But I am really way more interested in how It shoots..
Proofed the barrel with an over load..all went fine..
The dies I made work fine nuff..
If I do not hotrod this thing

The proof load. Sent an 87 grain Spitzer 3455 fps..

Oh..blued the barrel ..I'll retouch it up after the filler is in..

looking to buy me an air rifle to deal with vermin in my yard.
i only have a few acres now that i won't offend anyone and
the crack of a 22 mag really rings out around here now.
looking for a simple brake down barrel to take out woodchuck.

50 yards would be my max distance shot maybe 60

all of these are in the 200 to 325 $$$ range

looking at the Hatsan Mod 65 , 25 cal , 23fpe, 750 fps

Hatsan Mod 125 Spring Combo, 25 cal , 34 fpe, 850 fps

slammer suggested the hatson mod 95

Got this far on the wood today..
Gotta figger where to put the screw..to hold it to the barrel..

Well I started out the day with a pretty sour stummic..

Putts around...pecked on the banjo..
N about late mornin..
Felt good nuff..to mount the forarm..

Drilled n tapped a hole in the center of the stock stud..on the barrel..
N cut a junk 30-30 case head off to Make a washer ... trimmed down the screw to fit the primer pocket..
Did a quickie sanding job stained the oak wood..n..now the first..n.probly only coat of true oil gunstock Finnish

On a side note..I inadvertently tipped the bottle of true oil over..
Covered a banjo bridge I was working on..

So...
Rubbed it in...;0)

Wonder if it will make any differnance..? :0/

Got it zeroed today...
Took 4 rounds...
Now to make up a dozen or so..
N ..play a bit..

Oh..on another note.. the true oiled bridge.. sounds a tad..muddy-er...

Little tiny Gnome hat bullets..
Gonna try them in the hornet..
Gas check type bullets..

And..
Gas checking .257 cal bullets..

Both new to me bullet molds..

Loaded round...

25-20 wcf....
All loaded up.. :0)

An old project revisited..
2 differnt cases that can be fired in the same gun..
One case started out as a .357 maximum..
The other a .. .223 remington

Both now are 6mm bullets..
I do like these kinda projects..
Goes against a lot of the rulse.. ;0)

Dem squirrels are in trouble now after zeroing..
22 hornet cast bullets 1650 fps...

50 yards...

4th of July...
3 shots to zero n adjust..
One shot at Mr squirrels head..

Now I'm pretty sure..
That a .25 Krag 87 grain bullet @ 3150 fps...
Is a bit much ovah kill..fer Mr. Squirrel.. ;0)

So..I decreased the powder..lookin fer 1200 fps...

Usually decreasing cast boolit speed to 1400 fps or below..

Gives better accruacy..

But suprise...

Not this time..!

Groups went to 2 1/2"... :0/
