Loaded some ammo after casting some spire point boolits..
With high hopes..

Dismal results... :0/
The boolit on the left work great..
But the one on the right ..notsomuch... :0/
Little small on diameter n drove to fast i think...
Will try again later..
When I have good sights instaled..

Well i may have reahdeed.. me situation...

The cast boolits are fine..
But the sizer i used was spoze to drop sized n gas checked boolits.. at .258"...
It did not...
In fact..it dropped them at .256 to .257..at best..
So I reamed n honed the sizer to.. .258 ...

Oh as a bonus while at the lathe..I turned a brass finger slide... to play with ..later.. ;0)


Yes...that is a slide ..for...brass fingers.... :0/ ;0)

The now fatter boolits...Will now fill the bore better..is the hope..

As fer the boolits I made yesterday..well...
Back to the pot they go.. :0/

One plain base type for low velosity...n
Another one that requires a gas check..for higher velosities...

Scabbing together another stock..more cumphy to shoot..
Got this composit stock the everyone n thier brother has worked on.....off of ebay
Added a filler piece to the stock n milled n fit a nicer steel shoulder plate on the butt end...

Don't need original stuff or fancy on this rifle as it is me daily
shooter...

Also Added a spacer screw to the lever..
Makes the firing pin hit in a much more better spot..towards the center..no more misfires.. :0)

I could of heated n bent the lever..
But..
This way it is adjustable in headspace terms..as differnt rimmed cases can have differnt thicknessess..from brand to brand or..lot to lot..

Wanted to see if a 1 in 14 twist would stables a ppv 100 grain boolit..

The answer is...
Not quite..
50/50 chance at boolit yaw at 50 yards.....at 2600 fps

I think if I can find or make 100 gr more stubby boolits it would do it..
But fer now ..85 to 90 grainers are gonna be ..it..

I do like this scope. Post crosshair is my favorite. I've collected 1/2 dozen or so old Weavers that have post crosshairs.

#3 lee dipper with red dot powder..apx 3.3 grains
1300 fps
Good cheap load ..n great fer small critters..

I grew up with 12-16-20 gauge, small game, some deer hunting, we all had a 30-06 or a 30-30. All the critters and trap shooting, etc. Now days, you go to an event and the raffle prize is a people killer AR-20. Where did this go wrong?

Please, tell me. Where did this all take a wrong turn? I just don't understand it.

People go towards what is familure..
Just as you did with your shotguns..
It was what you were brought up on..

30-06 was a service round..
N..one reason it is so popular ..
Way more power than most need imo..
