To explain the first cut was the deepest.....
N ..a little too deep..
The second cut was a tad shallow..
This is why I do first time at something jobs..on a less than perfect barrel..
I got this barrel cheap..the bore is ok.. but the shank was too skinny for a stop..so put a bead ring of weld around the barrel for a stop..works..not real pretty but works..
The outside of the barrel was rusted n pitted ..pretty baddly..
Hence the cheap price..
Just trying to make chickin salad out chickin ..crap.. :0)
SCORED...!
Bid on an old fallingblock high wall ... add said it was in .22 short...
With no markings....
I got most of the parts to make it a center fire...
Got it pretty dang resonable..
It came to the gun shop a few days ago..
When n saw it today..some kinda mix up on the ssn..but that got all straitened out..
Soon as I looked at it.. I knew it was ..Not .22 rimfire..
Turned out..to be a 22 hornet chambering.. :0)
Most all the work I needed to do..
Is already done..! :0)
N..that means..that i got it...
Really...REALLY... Right...! :0)
Now waiting on an action I won to come in..
That way all the paper work is done at one time... ;0)

Talking with my brother yesterday (he's old school), he think shooting from the off-hand position is the real measure of shooting proficiency. I agree with him. I like shooting from the prone position, but learned to shoot off-hand early on ..... also used to have to shoot off-hand in the Marine training in addition to prone.

I mostly shoot of the bench..
C'ept..fer plinking...
Do not shoot prone much now..hard to get up n down with the arthritis..
Standing ..bench ..kneeling or sitting is fine tho.. :0)

Yeah ....... shooting at the range just about everybody shoots off the bench ...... either sitting or kneeling ......both good.
Today's project..
Made dies n parts to turn 22 rimfire empty casses into .224 jackets to make jacketed boolits... :0)
Rolls out the folded rim n sizes the cases..
The plters have been modified to hold the cases during a molten lead poor..
Still gotta make a final shape n size die...but got this far.. :0)
So I got a cheap marlin model 60 22lr barrel..
Cut the chamber to 22 short n fit it to Deadly Dudley...
Works..!
The chamber is cut as so the bullet is just barely into the rifleing..
In an attempt to get real good consistancy..
I'm hopin that this setup will be a tack driver..
Gotta put sights or a scope on it..
N..a forearm.
Real pleased with it..so far.. :0)
So.....
This is the first boolit I made with the form die I made to make jacketed boolits from 22 lr casings..
Good diameter...
Now to improve the nose punch possess...
I know that there a commercial dies to do this allready made..
So the idea is not new or mine..
But if I can improve me skills..
N..do something I enjoy..
Well..why not..! :0)
Well made 6 rounds...
Shot 2 at the board to see if they would work n not yaw..
4 at a target at 50 yards.. I pulled that one to the right as I was a bit excited..
But then settled down 3 vertical ones..not bad..very windy today too..the target was blowing back n forth a lot..
Just on little wire legs... :0/
All in all...good.. n room to improove.. ;0)
I gots a few ideas... :0)
