Making a 222 rimmed.. But it will actually be a 223 chamber reamer used.. As the 357 maximum case is a tad short in the neck area..for a .222 rem.. Soo...going with the .223 rem neck..
Here is a 222 on the left... 223× 357 maximum..center N..a 223 remington on the right..
Note the shorter neck on the 223.. That is why I used that reamer.. But the body n shoulder is the same as the 222 remington.. The trick is to go just deep nuff.. n then cut the chamber on the lathe for the rim.. If done right... The round headspaces..on both the rim..and the shoulder.. :0)
Well while I was at it..n all set up.. I decided to do the same kinda thing but in 6mm... Basically a 6mmx222 rimmed.. Legal for deer here in ct... Light weight barrel.. real nice for carrying..ah field.. Off the top of me head a..85 grain boolet will go apx 2800 fps...
Got all set up to do an under cut..but had the barrel 45° out.. Just cault me mistake as I just started me cut..so saved it from me own created ....dis-ass-ter... :0/
I would'ah...Not..been happy... The barrel is now in the reciever..n works perfect..
Dovetailed in the spring post..n blued the barrel.. This time I blued the barrel while it was spinning on the lathe... Made a kinda cool lookin case hardened effect...
