The title literally means --Walking Dance (or tune) from Applebo--, a village in Sweden. I understand this is one of the two most common Swedish fiddle tunes. I first heard it back in my college days, but was reminded of it by a posting on the Fiddle Hangout by Michael Springer (fiddlepogo). I worked this out by downloading his version and slowing it down to play along with. It's my current obsession tune, and it sounds OK on banjo, too. I'll see if I can get smooth enough on the banjo version to post that. This is recorded in my kitchen with my little Olympus voice recorder. You can hear our standard poodle rushing around chasing the cat.

This is a Swedish walking tune. Presumably the fiddlers would play this while walking to a dance or to market. I had forgotten about this tune until I heard Cathy Moores version.

One of an all-A session in the evening at Gilman, IL in September. Lots of tree frogs around us. Correction: they were katydids, not frogs.

Here I am at the office, waiting to leave. And, I have a banjo. This is my version of Charlie Pooles version of Goodbye Sweet Liza Jane. I am in G on the Gold Tone. Sorry about the rumbles where the microphone got my exhales. Now everyone knows that I tend to hold my breath while playing.

I've known of this tune for several years, I think from a dulcimer group which I sometimes play with. This version is based on Billy Mathews' fiddle version. It wasn't until hearing Mathews' version that I decided that it wasn't just an ordinary tune with a cute title.

From the March 24, 2010 UIS Jam Session. This is the first time the group had played this tune, so you hear us gradually coming together.

This is a recording made in the summer of 1980 at a one-time festival by a one-time band called the Goat Ranch Band. This band was BHO-members VRteach (banjo & lead vocal on this song) and LyleK (fiddle & backup vocal), and non-member Valerie Hayes (guitar & backup vocal).

Played by the Goat Ranch Band, 1980. Toward the end a member of the audience rushed out on stage and started a Buck-and-Wing.

Me introducing Greasy Coat to the UIS jam crowd. I'm on the CEB-5 in A-modal. Recorded on my Olympus voice recorder which was sitting on the floor among us.

Another Greasy Coat? Ah well, it's my obsession tune right now. I'm double-tracked on the Goldtone CEB-5 cello and the Goldtone WL-250. Both are in A-modal, the cello is an octave lower, just playing in unison.
