Like a lot of people, I tend to get a case of the nerves when other people listen to me play. So I look for opportunities to sneak in an audience when I can. Today the landlord is here painting the trim and the doors on the house. So, I took the opportunity to serenade him while he worked. It's not like he can complain!
I downloaded Jay Buckey's song-of-the-month last night, which is When Johnny Comes Marching Home. It's played in Gminor, so you must drop the B string half a step to play it. It sounds very good, and I will have it mastered shortly because it's fun to play and not difficult.
We finally have some sunshine, so this morning I fired up the smoker. I have 8 pounds of chicken thighs cooking now, and a big pan of vegetables in there, too. I like to take some zucchini, onion, mushrooms, red bell pepper and potatoes, drizzle them with olive oil, sprinkle in a few aromatic herbs and tuck in a couple of cloves of garlic. I let them smoke for about 2 hours, and they're delicious. The chicken will be basted with my favorite Hoboken Eddie's Jamaican BBQ sauce, which is spicy and not too sweet. Needless to say--it smells great outside!
