Next Monday, my dad will be 85. He's a pretty remarkable guy. Music has always been a part of his life. He plays the piano a bit, and the accordion. He decided recently that he wanted to try some dulcimer lessons, and he's enjoying that very much. So, for his birthday gift, I contacted Mary Z. Cox who is quite an accomplished dulcimer player. She's also a lovely person and a kind soul. I asked her if she would write a little note of encouragement to him, and I also purchased her Dulcimer Fandango CD to send along with the note. Tomorrow I will mail them off to Arizona and I know Dad will get a kick out of it.
I continue to be amazed at the generosity of the old-time and bluegrass community. And I'm really thankful and proud to be part of it, however minor a part that might be. Thank you all for your help, encouragement, friendship and willingness to share.
