The big jam in K.C. tonight, last week We had about 75 pickers, and listners. We had many great pickers there, had much fun, should have tonight also. My Classic with Wood Tone Ring is Ringing Like Bell Bronze,,, and banjo weighs only 7 lbs., Man,, I could tell You all the great features of these Great Nechville banjo's,, BUT it would take up to much room on the page.

You guys are probably getting tired of Me by now, BUT I can't help it, When You get a Fabulous banjo like this, You just feel like spreading the news,, AND,, ( I Do Not Work For Tom ) But Love His banjo's, I have this Classic Deluxe as a Keeper, and hope to buy another one someday. Tomorrow is a speacial day. I often take My Banjo, and Guitar to Church, Which I will do tomorrow. I will be playing at Church,, Then after Church Go to Nursing Home, and pick a Banjo tune, Then Play guitar along with a fiddler.. (What A Day That Will Be) I really beleave in playing for Nursing homes, I have beeen doing it for 39 years now. One of These days I may be in one,, and I would surely like it if someone would bring Their Guitar, or Banjo, and pick, and sing for Me. We Do Not Know What Tomorrow holds for us, So I prefer to try and brighten The days of these older Folks..

From what i have seen on the net Nechville banjos look great and sound good too but here in Australia we could do with more banjo shops that sell good banjos like Nechville we are forced to pay high shipping and custom charges if only there was a proper dealer network ,,,,,,,one day maybe till then the nechville openback will just be a dream

I just ordered a radiused mahogany Orion neck for my RB250 pot. Easier to put Keith tuners on and a nice complement to my Phantom. The flux capacitor will allow me to swap Nechville necks and I can get another Helimount pot some other time. Just a cool system.

While I'm a novice banjo player, I don't believe that anyone is more of a "traditionalist" than I am. I'm not going to argue that point; just suffice it to say that a deep respect for tradition in all it's guises permeates my life.

That said, I'd recently thought to write to Nechville purely to compliment you on your innovations, particularly the tensioning system. Great stuff, gentlemen!

Is that a conflict of ideology? Nope. Innovation is as much part of the banjo tradition as is rapid acceptance of those innovations that actually improve the breed. From the distant past, I'll cite the Joel Sweeney 5th string as an innovation that was readily accepted because it added to the versatility of the instrument. From a more recent era there are "Scruggs tuners". I'm sure the more experienced out there can name other such innovations.

I would offer that the dearth of conversation about Nechville banjos is more due to the lack of exposure... due in no small part to the price... than any other factor. I'd predict that will change as your market expands.

Personally, I'm counting on winning the drawing, and my shouts of pleasure will be heard across the continent.

Hi members. My first post on here. I just ordered a Nechville Custom Maple Phantom and should be recieving it this week. I played a few at Merlefest this spring and fell in love with them. I flatpicked guitar for years and think the Phantom's neck feels familiar to my hands. I'll still keep my Stelling Red Fox, but the Nechville might be traveling with me more often. They seem to be a lot easier to set-up and tinker with.

Be good to your kids. They''ll be choosing your nursing home.

I had the honor/pleasure to hang out with Tom at RockyGrass this year. What a blast. We sat with my Vintage and tried all kinds of things to see how it affected the sound but, the highlight was being able to A-B-C three different resonators (A -my mahagony, no finish inside; B-mahagony with light finish; C - cocobola with no finish). From the players perspective (mine), the mahagony with no finish won but, from the listener's perspective, the cocobola won. Sure you don't want to sell me the cocobola resonator?

Played the same song (Theme Time) for about 30 minutes. That'll give the old right had a work out!

It was a lot of fun. Thanks, Tom, for spending the time with me. I absolutely still love my Vintage after 5 great years with it!

Hi Gomer, NO Propaganda here just great FACTS. I have a Deering also, for practice. In My opinion Nechville, is building the best New Banjo's today, and (Tomorrow), I don't think any other banjo comes close to it, I also like You, think the Vintage Looks very good, AND in the future I hope to buy a Custom Vintage, with the Cascade inlay on the fingerboard, and peg head, But for now My Classic Deluxe is doing a Great job, I am NOT a spoksman for Nechville,, I am just ( very selfish really), I want Tom to keep doing ,,and building His Great banjo's,, BECAUSE, when My money frees up a little, I want to be able to buy another one. I still will say if You have never seen,, played,, or taken a Nechville apart, You are really missing a treat. If anyone wants to check Mine out, with the wood tone ring, and You live in Mo. close to Higginsville, You are willing to come see Me, and injoy (THE NECHVILLE MAGIC) AND I'm 73 years old, and have owned ( many) Great banjo over the Years,, None came even close to My Classic Deluxe.

I didn't feel like reading through the whole topic to see if anyone has mentioned weight of the Nechville. I didn't see anything on the website (maybe I'm not looking in the right spot) regarding weight. My concern would be that it looks like it ways more than a traditional style banjo. Yes I have a 2004 Nechville Classic Deluxe, with Cocobolo Wood tone ring, It weighs 7 lbs. and sounds as good as the bronze rings, and how They compare with other banjo's,, The others do not hardly compare with a Nechville, Nechville has them all beat on most all aspects,, UNLESS You like to turn nuts all the time? And unless You don't care about about being able to adjust neck angle--String action in just Min.. But if You would rather Tinker, and turn nuts all the time, Instead of Pickin banjo.,, I'd rather Pick. BUT Really The best way to really know if You would like one, Is to Find one, check it, out take it apart, Put it back together, Change the Action/ Neck angle, try any size bridge You like, and do it all in Min., not hrs. or days.

Very light weight.
Mine has a bronze tonering and delrin tone spheres. Very easy on the back. All the tone you would want.

My Nechville Banjo with a 40-hole tone ring in it weights, by my guess, 3 lbs less than my Stelling banjo. May be a little more. My Nechville is definitely much easier to hold for an extended period of time. In my 3 years of experience, its the lightest resonator banjo I've played.

Mine is 7 lbs. and sounds great, I took the resonator off last night at the banjo jam, and tightened the head a little, to show the others how eazy and fast it was, The fiirst guy said Hey No Neck rods, I said No no need for one, No picker there had seen the back of one, and the adjustability of it before, Everyone liked it, Including the Volume,, Tone,, bass,, treble,, Pop,, Knock,, Ring,, Zing... WOW..

I originally bought my Vintage because it weighed so much less than my other banjos and, after 3 hours on stage, it makes a difference. Now, I play it because of the playability and sound. The weight is just another added bonus.

I play Gibsons and I dearly love my Gibson banjo's though I'm not fond of Gibson USA right now but I'm a traditionalist and I wouldnt trade my RB 75 for anything. That said I was in a large music store in East Tennessee and they had a basic model Nechville sitting there I think it was a consignment sale. Well I picked it up and played it for a while and I have to say I was shocked, it was one of the most comfortable easy playing banjo's I have ever wrapped my hand around and it had a REALLY good sound I told my wife if we ever find ourselves with a little extra money I'm gonna have one of these
